I saw this image of a mother and baby elephant on the internet. I pulled it into a graphics program and messed around with different effects, ultimately deciding on a smudgey black and white look. Then I used that image as my study for this pencil drawing. I did my smudging with Q-tips and paper towels.
I gave the drawing to my husband as a gift- his favorite animal is an elephant. At one point we had an elephant themed bathroom and this was hanging in a nice frame. There's quite a bit of discrepancy with the mother's legs, but not bad for my first real attempt at drawing.
